Position: Communications & Development Intern
Location: Remote

Dates: May 15 - July 15 (at least 3 months, flexible)

Summary
The Communications & Development Intern will be responsible for engaging with many of HAC’s stakeholders while building and maintaining good relationships. Ensuring necessary follow up, sharing updates on activities, and remaining connected through social media will be important in this role. In addition, they will gain experience with grant writing. This is a remote internship in which you will collaborate with a multinational team from the USA and Uganda.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Communications
Assist with report writing to funders, partners, leadership, and the Board of Directors
Compile and send out a monthly newsletter
Keep blog updated with HAC activities
Posting on social media at least twice a week
Updating website (WordPress)
Maintain photo and testimonial database
Development
Composing and submitting grant proposals
Personalised thank yous for donors
Using a media list to reach out to contacts
Setting up networking meetings and events based on contact lists
Keeping the Odoo CRM database updated with leads and opportunities
Emailing organizers to set up events
Preparing presentations for particular audiences
Background & Qualifications
Required
Sophomore, Junior, or Senior active student
Strong writing skills
Computer skills: social media (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, email)
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others
Preferred
Experience with WordPress
Experience with social media and networking communications
Interest in public health, healthcare in rural communities, non-profits, or international studies

Health Access Connect is an organization that links remote communities to healthcare. Our main program is Medicycles in which we transport Ugandan health workers using micro financed motorcycles to conduct monthly or bimonthly integrated care outreach clinics in remote areas with a focus on anti-retroviral treatment, HIV testing, antenatal care, family planning, and other essential health services.
